Russian MoD: withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgia is over
Anatoly Serdyukov, Russian Minister of Defence of Russia has reported to the Supreme Commander in Chief - President of Russia - that the withdrawal of the Russian military units, which had been attached to the peacekeeping contingent, of which Dmitri Medvedev stated on August 17, is over.
We remind you that through the day messages arrived that Russian troops started to move from cities of Georgia to the borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. According to Georgian media, the city of Gori was abandoned; however, there are no indications of Russian troops' withdrawal from the cities of Senaki and Poti.
The ITAR-TASS confirms the withdrawal of Russian troops.
The Reuters reports that a column of 150 units of Russian military vehicles, which abandoned the territory of Georgia, has reached Abkhazia; and according to the agency's correspondent, the two-kilometre-long column, including a tank and armoured troop-carriers, has crossed the Abkhazian border.
