USA raised $60,000 for families of Armenian political prisoners

As of August 31, as a result of the  TV "Marathon Action" to raise funds for the families of political prisoners and victims of March 1 events on in Armenia, organized by the Armenian community of Los Angeles, over 60 thousand US dollars were raised.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told about it at the office of the Armenian National Congress.

The TV action was broadcast by the Armenian TV Channels of this US state. The raised funds were deposited to a special account opened in one of Los Angeles banks.

After the presidential election on February 19 this year, the district of Los Angeles named "Small Armenia" is holding regular mass rallies in protest against the violence applied by the authorities to peaceful demonstrators on March 1.

Let us note here that today the aggregate population of Armenians living in the world makes about eight million, of which 3.5 million live in Armenia, two million in Russia, over 1.5 million in the USA, and of them one million in the state of California. The remaining Armenians live in Europe, half a million in France, large Armenian communities live in Iran, Middle East countries and Australia.
