State Security Service of Abkhazia reports detention of Georgian special agent
In the course of verifying operative data, employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Abkhazia detained an agent of Georgian special agencies - a woman-citizen of Abkhazia Diana Shedaniya, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Journalists were told at the SSS that "detention of Shedaniya allowed preventing a series of diversion and terror acts in the territory of the republic." As a result of a complex of operative steps taken by the SSS on the eve of detention, documentary materials were obtained evidencing her illegal activity, directed to undermine the safety of the Republic of Abkhazia.
It has become known that during a number of years Diana Shedaniya periodically left Abkhazia for her private business, where she got in sight of Georgian special agencies. About one year ago, Kakhaber Kvaratskheliya, an employee of the department for counterespionage of Georgia, involved her in secret cooperation with the aim to extract state and military secrets from Abkhazia.
According to the SSS of Abkhazia, during several months Diana Shedaniya kept visiting the deployment sites of the regiments of the Ministry of Defence and frontier units, made photo and video filming of military objects, machinery and weapons.
According to a high-ranking employee of the SSS, Ms Shedaniya was recruited by Georgian special agencies for gathering information on the situation in the city of Sukhumi for committing explosions.
