Book "South Ossetia - Chronicle of Customized Murder" published

The book-album named "South Ossetia - Chronicle of Customized Murder", which was in early October presented to PACE delegates and at the OSCE conference on human dimension in Warsaw, has caused public resonance. On October 16, representatives of public organizations held a press conference on the topic.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the glossy 100-page album, published in the Russian and English languages by the Commission of Public Chamber for Investigation of War Crimes in South Ossetia and Help to Suffered Civil Population and Human Rights Movement "Resistance", comprises evidences from some 30 Tskhinvali residents who got under bombardment of Georgian troops on August 8-12  and photos made by journalists during the August events.

The book also presents a number of evidences of doctors. In particular, one of them - story told by Aivar Bestaev, a surgeon of the Tskhinvali Clinical Hospital, - gives not only his personal emotions, but also the roll of casualties and victims: "70 killed and 190 wounded persons were brought on the first night of bombardment. In total at the Hospital during three days 270 persons were operated on, apart from those who received tangential wounds."

According to the evidence of Elichka Gaboeva, 85, she was beaten by Georgian militaries; and Zelimkhan Tamaev, 69, asserts that some of the soldiers who had invaded his village spoke Ukrainian.

The book also tells about the victims of the Georgian army: several hundreds of killed and wounded Ossetians, 70 percent of destroyed Tskhinvali and 100 percent of its historical centre. According to the edition, only the synagogue had survived in the historical centre.

The book asserts that Russia could not leave the Georgia's aggression unanswered and destroyed the military bases in the Georgian city of Gori.

"Now Europe knows about South Ossetia's tragedy. The West cannot hide the truth any longer and tends to recognize our rightness," Oleg Kudukhov, executive secretary of the People's Forum "Ossetia Accuses", stated on October 16 at the RIA "Novosti" at a press conference on the publication of the book.

However, the lady-journalist of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company, who was present at the press conference, was indignant with such unilateral approach to the conflict. She told about destroyed Georgian villages, bombardments of peaceful houses in Gori. The employee of the Georgian TV Company has also stated that such one-sided condemnation will not settle the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, but just aggravate it.
