Top officers detained in Georgia, experts state start of spy scare

In Georgia, on the case about mutiny at the military base in Mukhrovani, David Sulkhanishvili and Kakha Kobaidze, Commanders of the 1st and 3rd Infantry Brigades, were detained. The are suspected of concealing information about the would-be mutiny of the armoured battalion in Mukhrovani.

Earlier, political scientist and military expert Vakhtang Maisaya and Colonel Irakliy Batkuashvili were detained on charges of espionage in favour of the Russian Federation. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent telephoned to Maisaya's colleague - military expert Irakliy Sesiashvili, who has commented the expert's arrest.

Mr Sesiashvili believes that during evidencing and confessing, shown on TV, Vakhtang Maisaya read someone's text, since sometimes he could not distinguish the content. People do not read their own handwritten text in this way. Maisaya's mother said that her son was under effect of psychotropic drugs.
