Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya checks data about Yamadaev's threats to Kadyrov

Sulim Yamadaev, former commander of "Vostok" special GRU battalion, who, according to some sources, was lost as a result of attempt in the end of this March in Dubai, and, according to his relatives, survived and was going to announce blood feud to President of Chechnya, can be brought to criminal liability. His threats to Ramzan Kadyrov arouse interest of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt from a source in the republic's Prosecutor's Office that the decision to open a criminal case or not will be made on the results of the check.

"A threat of murder addressed to political figures and statesmen, in this case, announcement of blood feud, is, naturally, a criminally punishable offence," said the source.

"I personally have strong doubts that Sulim Yamadaev is really alive and have announced or tried to announce blood feud to Kadyrov and Delimkhanov," said a member of a local NGO.

In his opinion, until Sulim Yamadaev is considered alive, those who are thought to be organizers of the attempt on him will be, first of all, anxious to neutralize the possible threats originating from this person.

"It means that for some time the Yamadaev clan can feel relative safe. There's one more nuance in this case. As far as I know, Isa Yamadaev is not the person look for trouble. In fact today, the Yamadaevs have no real force behind. And if we outgo from this fact, it looks like Isa Yamadaev is pushed by someone in making such loud statements," explained the source.

In his opinion, those very structures can be involved, to which Sulim Yamadaev belonged, that is the GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff).

"Ramzan Kadyrov's serious ambitions, legalization of several thousands of former militants and their transfer into operative power agencies, and, finally, cancellation of CTO regime in Chechnya, could hardly make militaries and special services happy. I'm afraid that this conflict can be used by federal power agents for launching another broad-scale special operation in Chechnya," said the NGO member.
