Residents of Ingushetia are indignant with terror act against Evkurov

The attempt on President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, where one person was lost and three others, including the President, were wounded, has provoked a broad resonance in the Ingush society. Local residents are extremely indignant with the incident.

On June 22, hundreds of local residents came to the building of the Republic's Clinical Hospital, where the victims were brought immediately after the explosion. People wanted to know details about President's health condition and express their support to him.

"Our hospital never saw anything of the kind. People were coming in crowds. Trying to stop the flow, militiamen blocked the adjoining territory, but people would not leave and kept standing behind the cordon. They began dispersing only by night, after the victims were taken to Moscow," Zarema, a hospital worker, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"For most of the people it was a real shock. Many, I know, perceive the incident as personal tragedy. Whatever they say now, this person (Evkurov, - note of the "Caucasian Knot") has really enjoyed support of the majority of the population. People were putting their last hopes on him that, eventually, order and stability will be established in the republic. The yesterday's terror act was a serious blow on these expectations," said a member of one of local human rights NGOs.
