Social workers and IT specialists come to protest in Tbilisi
On the 30th day of protests against the suspension of European integration, IT specialists, people of creative professions, and social workers took to the streets in Tbilisi. Social workers, in particular, demanded an end to dismissals for political reasons.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on the 29th day of protests in Tbilisi, several marches took place, including miners from Tkibuli, children of religious figures, and natives of Batumi.
The march held by specialists of the Internet technology sector joined the protest action held by people of creative professions, including photographers, event managers, animators, DJs, and musicians, the “Pirveli” TV Company reports. “This protest will not stop until the people’s opinion is heard ... We demand new parliamentary elections because too many people’s votes were falsified. And the most important demand is to immediately release the political prisoners who have lived through that and are in very bad condition,” a participant of the march was quoted by the “Pirveli” TV Company as stating.
Furthermore, in Tbilisi, public sector employees demanded an explanation as to why people with opposition views were dismissed from a public institution. The demonstrators believe that the dismissals served as an act to intimidate them. The National Probation Centre, however, claims that no employee was dismissed for political reasons, the “Tbilisi Life” portal reports.
In Kutaisi, supporters of European integration rode bicycles through the streets of the city. “We demand European integration, as our future is in Europe,” the “Mtavari Arkhi” TV Company quoted a participant of the rally as claiming.
