HRC concerned of attacks on oppositional activists in Georgia

The organization named "Human Rights Centre" (HRC) has promulgated a statement on detentions in Georgia of activists of the opposition and attacks on them, as Simon Papuashvili, coordinator of the HRC in Tbilisi, has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the attacks have political context, same as the amendments to the Law "On Assemblies and Manifestations".

"After April 9, when oppositional marches and demonstrations began, facts are registered of attacks on protesters and activists of political parties; recently the count of such facts is on the rise," Mr Papuashvili has stated.

According to his story, in most cases detentions are linked with some alleged offences; however, the context and places of such detentions allow concluding that they are politically motivated.
