Resident of Chechnya reports that his fellow villager was tortured for having a telephone conversation with a militant

In the Grozny District of Chechnya, power agents have severely beaten and tortured two residents of Pervomaiskoe village, located in this district, a father and his son. The reason was that the son received a call to his mobile phone his former friend who had joined militants a year ago.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by a resident of Pervomaiskoe, according to whom the incident took place a week ago. Fellow villagers of the victims find the actions of power agents to be the uttermost arbitrariness and lawlessness.

"About a week ago, militiamen from the unit deployed in Pobedinskoe village (it is located several kilometres to the north from Pervomaiskoe, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot") took away a young guy and his father. They were brought to the base in Pobedinskoe and subjected to beatings and torture there. They even used electricity," said Magomed, a resident of Pervomaiskoe.

According to his story, the power agents from Pobedinskoe keep surrounding residents restless.

"Earlier, Baisarov was in command there (Movladi Baisarov, commander of the special FSB regiment 'Gorets' (Mountaineer), disbanded in 2006 after Baisarov was shot dead in Moscow by employees of Chechen MIA at 'an attempt to render armed resistance', - comment of the 'Caucasian Knot'). They scoffed at people too, said the source. "Then, Baisarov was killed, and the base of a certain 'Iran' was set up there, who, allegedly, had earlier been Baisarov's deputy and then switched over to Kadyrov. But the lawlessness remains. Now, they say, a certain 'Malysh' came instead of 'Iran'; and everything repeats again."

According to Magomed, the father and son, victims of power agents, decided not to complain anywhere, finding it senseless and fearing that "it can become still worse." The law enforcement bodies of the republic refused to comment the situation, since, as a spokesman from the MIA has stated, no applications against wrongful actions of law enforcers had been lodged by any of Pervomaiskoe residents; and it would be incorrect to comment one's "empty verbal allegations."
