Armenia implements programme of providing housing to Azerbaijani refugees

1000 families of Azerbaijani refugees now live in Yerevan and have no permanent residence. By different estimates, about 45 million US dollars are needed to build housing for them. This year, it is planned to provide permanent apartments to 50 families. This was reported to journalists by Eganyan, head of the migration agency under the Ministry of Territorial Management of Armenia.

According to his story, in Yerevan, the problem of providing housing to refugees from Azerbaijan will be solved not by means of granting certificates for buying flats, but by building apartments or houses. "It's better from the economic point of view," Mr Eganyan has assured.

He said that the government decided to provide housing this year to some 50 families of refugees from Azerbaijan, who live today in two Yerevan hostels.

According to Mr Eganyan, this year, 815 million drams (1 US dollar is equal to 375 Armenian drams, - note of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent) has been allotted from the state budget of Armenia for solving the housing problem of refugees and issuance of respective certificates; 750 million of this sum will be transferred to the Yerevan Mayoralty.

Let us remind you that the programme of granting housing certificates was launched in 2005.
