Pentalateral meeting in Abkhazia gave no results, Georgia states
The new pentalateral meeting in Gali (Abkhazia, September, 22) within the mechanism on prevention and reaction to incidents was a failure, the Georgian party asserts.
According to Shota Utiashvili, head of the information-analytical department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the meeting has discussed a number of issues, including the grave criminal situation in the Gali District, frequent attacks on peaceful residents, and problems of children's school attendance in the neighbouring Zugdidi District.
The meeting lasted for about four hours, but adopted no particular decisions. As noted by Mr Utiashvili, a certain agreement was achieved on the problem of Gali schoolchildren. He hopes that children from the Gali District will be allowed to pass over to the Zugdidi District and attend Georgian schools there, the "Georgia Today" reports.
A spokesman of Georgia's MIA has expressed hopes that the problems causing concern of the Georgian party will be solved in the near future, the "Trend" reports.
