Local resident kidnapped in Dagestan

On September 16, in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, unidentified persons kidnapped Dzhigirkhan Dzhigirkhanov, 27, right from his house. In the opinion of his relatives, employees of power agencies have to do with the incident.

Tazhudin Musaev, a resident of Makhachkala, told the "Caucasian Knot" that he cannot find his cousin Dzhigirkhan Dzhigirkhanov. Musaev said that on September 16 two automobiles arrived to the house where his cousin lived. Seven persons got out of them; they first made a search of Dzhigirkhanov's apartment; then, having handcuffed him, took away the owner. Dzhigirkhanov's also disappeared.

On the following day Musaev addressed advocate Bakanay Guseinova, who wrote applications to the Prosecutor's Office and the MIA of Dagestan, from where in some days an answer arrived that Dzhigirkhanov's whereabouts is not known. Musaev used his own sources and learnt that the detainee was kept at the Sovietskiy ROVD (District Interior Division) of Dagestan capital. In the yard of this interior unit he also saw Dzhigirkhanov's car; however, ROVD workers kept asserting that they knew nothing about Dzhigirkhanov's destiny.

Dzhigirkhanov, being a Moslem, visited the mosque in the Kotrova Street, which is regarded by local residents and militiamen to be a Wahhabite one. He wore a long beard that is also considered typical for Wahhabites. Because of this, according to the cousin, Dzhigirkhanov had been repeatedly brought to the militia.
