Head of "Reporters without Borders" not admitted to Russia to anniversary of Politkovskaya's death

As reported by Ilya, Anna Politkovskaya's son, Jean-Francois Julliard, Secretary General of the "Reporters without Borders", wanted to come to Moscow on the third anniversary of the journalist's murder; however, he was not admitted to Russia.

Ilya said at the press conference held on the occasion of the third anniversary of his mother's murder that Mr Julliard was told at the Russian consulate that, being a representative of a non-commercial organization, he should coordinate his visit right with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

According to Ilya, Mr Julliard sent all the necessary documents to the MFA; however, no entry visa was granted, as the "Echo Moskvy" reports.

The Amnesty International, in its turn, addressed its open letter to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in the context of three years after Politkovskaya's murder.

Sergey Sokolov, deputy editor-in-chief of the "Novaya Gazeta", said today in the press conference that after Politkovskaya's case was returned to the prosecutor's office for merging with the main criminal case, new suspects have appeared.

Mr Sokolov refused to name the new figurants, referring to the secrecy of investigation.

At the same time, according to his story, Makhmudov brothers, still suspects in this case, are at large and live in Chechnya. According to Sokolov, FSB Colonel Paul Ryaguzov, also a figurant, returned to his work for the FSB, as reported by the "Gazeta.Ru".
