Sixth Georgian-Abkhazian meeting on conflict prevention was fruitless
Today, the city of Gali (Gali District of Abkhazia) has hosted the sixth meeting within the mechanism of preventing incidents in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone. One of the basic points raised by the Georgian party referred to safe residence of Georgians in the Gali District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the previous meeting was pentalateral and took place in the Gali District in late September. No agreements were then reached.
"In spite of the fact that the count of incidents near the administrative border has got somewhat smaller, the safety issue of residents of the Gali District is still topical," the "News-Georgia" quotes Shota Utiashvili, head of the information-analytical department of Georgia's MIA.
Besides, the Georgian party raised the issue of flights of Russian helicopters over the conflict zone.
The "Rosbalt" reports that the meeting that lasted for three hours ended with no particular results or decisions.
