International Federation for Human Rights has voiced its attitude to Chechen presidential elections

The International Federation for Human Rights called the forthcoming presidential elections in Chechnya a "masquerade" against a background of ceaseless human rights violations.

Human rights activists stress that, after the referendum of March 23, which paved the way for presidential elections, crimes against civil population have become more frequent in Chechnya, especially cases of taking people hostage and kidnapping.

Presidential elections in Chechnya are to be held on October 5.
