Anna Politkovskaya Street to appear in Tbilisi
Today, a Tbilisi body of local government (in Sakrebulo) made a decision to give the names of perished Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, actresses Sofiko Chiaureli and film director Olga Konskaya.
Let us remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" was shot dead on October 7, 2006, in Moscow. The journalist was known, first of all, for her materials on Chechnya and Northern Caucasus. Her murder is still unsolved.
Her name will be given to the current Vladimir Dzhikiya Street in the Vake-Saburtalin District in Tbilisi.
At the same session, a decision was made to name a street in the old part of the city in honour of the well-known Georgian actress Sofiko Chiaureli, who died in Tbilisi on March 2, 2008, as reported by the IA "News-Georgia".
The "GHN" adds that is was also decided to commemorate Russian film director and actress Olga Konskaya in the name of one of the streets.
Together with Andrei Nekrasov, Ms Konskaya was the author of film about Alexander Litvinenko "Revolt: Litvinenko's Case".
Olga Konskaya died on May 28 in Moscow in her 45th year, when she was finishing her full-length director's debut "Lessons of Russian", a new film about Georgia and Russia. The film was shot during and after the August war of 2008. It was planned to put the film on in autumn of 2009.
