Armenian leader threatens with "adequate answer" to Turkey's protraction in ratifying protocols
The Armenian-Turkish protocols should be ratified within reasonable terms, while protraction of the process by Turkey will result in Armenia's adequate answer under the norms of the international law. This was stated on November 28 by President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, at its congress.
According to Mr Sargsyan, Armenia is coherent in establishing its relations with Turkey. "The protocols should be ratified and enforced; however, the ice has broken up, and it's precondition of peace and stability in the region, as well as of economic progress of the two countries," the President of Armenia has stated.
Serzh Sargsyan does not share the opinion that his country should stay away from Turkey: "Yes, we lack sufficient experience of dialogue with the Turks, but we're quick pupils. Today we're different from what we were a year ago. The time has come to make far-reaching decision; and nobody is safeguarded from mistakes. We should undertake efficient steps, let even under the risk of making mistakes. People will forgive our mistakes; they won't forgive our passiveness."
