President of Dagestan inaugurated
Today Makhachkala hosted inauguration of Magomedsalam Magomedov to the post of President of Dagestan. The new leader promised to bring the republic out of crisis, eradicate corruption and attract investors to Dagestan.
Alexander Khloponin, Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation and plenipotentiary of Russian President in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), came to Dagestan to take part in the event. Representatives of Azerbaijan, South Ossetia, subjects of Northern Caucasus and other regions of Russia were present at the ceremony, but not the former president of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev.
"I have no illusions that it'll be easy," new President of Dagestan Magomedov told the audience. "I'll give no empty promises; we need time for everything."
Among the main problems to be addressed, Magomedsalam Magomedov named the donation character of the economy, unemployment, and low living standards of the population.
