Alexei Voevoda from Sochi wins bronze medal in Vancouver and quits bobsleigh

On February 26, Sochi gave grand welcome to bronze medallist of the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver Alexei Voevoda. The athlete has declared that after this victory he decided to "round up" with bobsleigh.

Russian bobsleigh racers Alexander Zubkov from the city of Bratsk and Alexei Voevoda from Sochi won their bronze medals of Winter Olympiad-2010 at the competition on February 22, having used the other crew's runners for their double-seat bob. Before the start they had to urgently take the runners from the second Russian crew, as judges did not allow them to race on the runners with rubbed-off Olympic labels.

The Russian crew had the time of 3 minutes and 27.51 seconds after four races. The other Russian couple - Dmitri Abramovich (Krasnoyarsk) and Sergey Prudnikov (Bryansk) - was ranked seventh.

The German crew - Andre Lange and Kevin Kuske - became Olympic Champions, while silver medals went to another German crew - Thomas Florschuts and Richard Adjei.

After coming home from Canada, Alexei Voevoda told about his decision to stop his career of a bobsleigh racer. "This medal gave me so much happiness that I decided to quit bobsleigh," he said. "I'll perform at the Olympiad in Sochi in some other format. So far, my bobsleigh is over, and what I do next is my secret."
