Medvedev: Audit Chamber's report on Olympic expenditures may be delivered to the Prosecutor's Office
Russian President Dmitri Medvedev called inefficient use of budgetary funds as one of the reasons of unsuccessful performance of the Russian national team at the Olympiad in Vancouver and did not exclude that the results of the check conducted to this end by the Audit Chamber would be sent to the Prosecutor's Office.
Speaking today in Sochi at a sitting of the Board for Sports Development, Dmitri Medvedev has noted that in recent years the count of medals won by Russian teams has considerably dropped, including in winter sports, where earlier Russian athletes had been traditionally among the winners.
The President has emphasized that the unsatisfactory results mismatched the volumes of the funds allocated to train Russian athletes, which, according to his story, "are comparable to expenses of other countries, and sometimes are even higher," the "Sportbox.Ru" reports.
"I want this check to be absolute and touch not only on state structures, but also the general efficiency of spending budgetary funds. Including those sent to federations," the "All Sports" quotes the President.
