Twice in two days Stavropol evacuated its students because of explosion threats

On March 10, in Stavropol, they had to evacuate students and personnel of the North-Caucasian State Technical University after a report that a bomb had been planted in the building. The threat proved to be false. It was the second within two days message about a threat of a terror act in higher schools of Stavropol.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 9 about 7000 persons were evacuated because of a message about a bomb planted in the Stavropol State University. The information about a possible explosion came to the e-mail address of the University at 12:55 a.m. Moscow time; however, it did not specify the threatened building of the university. The check showed that the message was false.

On the following day, the situation was repeated in another higher school. As reported by the united on duty dispatch service of Stavropol, the call to the university was false; inspection of all the university buildings revealed no planted bombs there.

As reported by the "Interfax" with reference to the above united service, after the message about the threat of explosion, 2900 students and 200 teachers were evacuated.

Let us note here that recently false messages about potential terror acts in crowded places in southern regions of Russia have become more frequent.

Thus, on February 5, after an anonymous call about a planted bomb, several hundreds of persons were evacuated from the building of the Karachay-Cherkessian Drama and Comedy Theatre, where the beauty contest "Miss Cherkessk" was held. However, no bomb was found.

On February 14, an anonymous message arrived in the government office of Karachay-Cherkessia about a threat of a terror act in the Government House of the Republic. The check showed that it was also false. On March 2, the on duty unit of the MIA of Karachay-Cherkessia received an e-mail about an explosive device planted in the building of the National Assembly of Karachay-Cherkessia. Employees and MPs were evacuated. The threat proved to be false.

Besides, a message about mining one of the Krasnodar marketplaces came to the website of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the Krasnodar Territory on March 2. The place was not specified; therefore, they had to evacuate people from four major marketplaces of Krasnodar. The check did not reveal any bomb.

On March 10, a false message about a planted bomb came by e-mail to the administration of the Central Hurul of Elista "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni".

In Stavropol, a false report about a terror act was received in October 2010, when a suspicious car was detected near a secondary school, from where pupils were evacuated. Experts checked the car, but found nothing.
