Vincent Piket: "The European Commission will not reduce its aid to the people of the North Caucasus next year"
The European Commission will not reduce its aid to the people of the North Caucasus next year, Deputy Head of the EC Delegation to Russia Vincent Piket told a press conference in Moscow.
Yesterday the European Commission allotted 9.5 million euro to help people suffered as a result of the conflict in Chechnya. According to Mr. Piket, this money will be used for the most part to improve living conditions for Chechen refugees and to provide security for members of international organizations.
Since the beginning of the second Chechen campaign in 1999, the European Commission has allotted 120 million euro as help to people suffered in Chechnya.
