Tbilisi presents film "Five Days in August" on Georgia's war with Russia

The capital of Georgia has hosted a debut of the film by the American film director Renny Harlin "Five Days in August" about the war in South Ossetia in August 2008.

Prior to screening the film, a red carpet was placed in front of the "Rustaveli" cinema, where the honourable invited guests appeared in dinner jackets and fancy gowns, including Sharon Stone in a black dress with a black fur evening wrap.

Renny Harlin said at a press conference before the film show that his film is not anti-Russian and not anti-Georgian. "This film is against war and violence," the "Interfax" quotes the film director as saying.

Mr Harlin confessed that he is in love with Georgia and partially considers himself to be a Georgian. "The first thing we did upon arrival in Tbilisi at night - we went to a restaurant to eat khinkali and drink chacha," he said.

It was earlier reported that the invitation to the party was from 5000 to 10,000 US dollars; and the raised money will go to families of casualties of the 2008 war.

Oppositionists protested against screening the Hollywood movie. Several persons were detained at the building of the Parliament. Policemen took away posters from them reading: "August is holiday for Saakashvili, but tragedy for Georgia".

The film "Five Days in August" was demonstrated at the Venice and Cannes film festivals; however, nothing was reported about its success there and about critics' opinions, the "RBC" reports.
