Azerbaijan and Georgia offer to jointly conduct European Football Championship in 2020

Azerbaijan and Georgia will submit a joint application to host the European Football Championship in 2020. This was announced by Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in his today's speech to the Azerbaijani MPs. In the summer of 2014, the UEFA will make a decision to choose the countries for conducting the Championship.

On March 6-7, Mikhail Saakashvili has a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan. In his speech at the Parliament, he has emphasized that Azerbaijan and Georgia are united by strategic partnership and this alliance is not directed against any third party.

Following the talks between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Georgia, new joint projects were announced.

"This year we will begin construction of a new highway Tbilisi-Rustavi, which will reach the borders of Azerbaijan," Mikhail Saakashvili said. According to him, with the help of Azerbaijan, Georgia has managed to strengthen its energy security. Furthermore, this year, the first test train will go along the railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, and the project will operate in full force in 2013.

In his turn, President Ilham Aliev has expressed his satisfaction that the Azerbaijani companies began to invest large investments in Georgia's economy: "These investments have a great future."
