Armenian Minister of Sport announces anticipated resignations following poor results at London Olympics

Armenia anticipates resignations in the field of sport; however, the particular dismissals will be announced in September. This was reported by Grachya Rostomyan, Minister of Sports, upon arrival of the national Olympic team in Yerevan from London. According to him, the Ministry already has specific plans upon the outcomes of the Olympic Games, and they will also be announced later after the meeting of the Council of the leaders of the sports federations of the country.

Let us remind you that by the outcomes of the Olympic Games, Armenia shared the 60th place (and the Olympic Games were attended by athletes from more than 200 countries) with such countries as Belgium and Finland.

The Minister stated that at the 30th Olympic Games in London, the Armenian national team has improved the team performance. "Although we have won fewer medals than in Beijing; however, silver medals are being appreciated higher than bronze ones," Grachya Rostomyan has emphasized.

"We will take the steps that will be painful for many people. We are all saddened by our defeats, and many people criticize us for our work. In our turn, we should prove on practice that will not happen again. Those people, who failed to complete their work, will resign," the Minister said. He has added that the answers to all questions will be presented in September.

The airport met the Armenian national Olympic team with music and flowers. Medallists were awarded with wreaths of laurel leaves.
