In March 2013, 72 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
At least 72 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in March 2013; of them 47 persons perished, and 25 more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The leader by the count of victims is Dagestan. During March, 41 persons suffered there, including 26 killed and 15 wounded persons. In the course of armed clashes with members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and as a result of attacks four power agents perished, and nine received wounds of various gravity. In the course of armed clashes, special operations and self-explosions, 11 suspects of involvement in the armed underground were killed, and two more were wounded. As a result of attacks of unidentified persons 11 civilians were lost, and four others were wounded.
In Chechnya, 13 persons suffered in March, including six killed and seven wounded persons. As a result of armed clashes with members of the armed underground, as well as during explosions two employees of power bodies perished, and six more were wounded. In the course of a special operation three militants were killed. As a result of shelling a forest massive, one local resident was killed, another one was wounded.
In Ingushetia, eight persons fell victim to the conflict in March, including seven casualties and one wounded person. As a result of an armed clash with power agents, seven persons, suspected of involvement in the armed underground, were killed. In the course of chasing a car by traffic policemen, a local resident was wounded.
In Kabardino-Balkaria, seven persons, suspected of participation in the armed underground, suffered in March. All of them were killed in the course of armed clashes with employees of power bodies and as a result of detonation of explosion devices.
In Karachay-Cherkessia, in March three persons suffered; one was killed and two were wounded. As a result of an attack of an unidentified person, two policemen were wounded. Besides, as a result of use if firearm by a policeman, a local resident was killed.
In March this year, North Ossetia and the Stavropol Territory had no victims of the armed conflict.
The above statistics is unable to reflect, with a 100-percent precision, the number of victims. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to check the truthfulness of the statements made by law-enforcement bodies.
