North Ossetia: mother of the policeman who died in terror act receives Hero of Russia Star

By a Decree of the Russian President, the Police Lieutenant Zaur Djibilov has been posthumously awarded the title of the Hero of Russia; the award was given to his mother.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on October 23, 2012, when policemen were inspecting a car that had approached the North-Ossetian post Chermen from Nazran, the driver triggered an explosive device. The blast killed Lieutenant Zaur Djibilov on the spot, his four colleagues – Vaso Basiev, Nana Latishvili, Evgeny Korneev and Vadim Khoranov – were wounded.

On November 9, 2012, the head of North Ossetia Taimuraz Mamsurov nominated Djibilov for the title of the Hero of Russia posthumously.

Also posthumously, for the courage, bravery and dedication, exhibited during performance of his military duty in the North-Caucasian region, the Sergeant Rustam Aidarov was awarded the Order of Courage. He was killed on July 21, 2012, at the shelling of a military convoy.

According to the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), for the period from 1991 to the present time, in total, 103 power agents of the MIA were lost.
