Azerbaijani court sentences Rashad Agaaddin to 9 years in prison
Rashad Agaaddin (Ramazanov), an active user of social networks, accused of drug trafficking, was sentenced in Azerbaijan to 9 years in prison. Agaaddin himself has rejected the accusation and said that he is persecuted for his writings in the Facebook social network. His defence intends to appeal against the verdict.
Let us remind you that Rashad Agaaddin was detained on May 9 in Baku. According to investigators, at detention, nine grams of heroin were found in the back pocket of his trousers.
On November 13, the trial held the final presentations of the defence and the defendant, after which the court announced the verdict, Azer Nagiev, Agaaddin's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In the opinion of the advocate, the prosecution has failed to prove Agaaddin's guilt. "All the accusations were based on allegations of the policemen, who had detained Rashad Agaaddin," Azer Nagiev has added.
"If Rashad had been trading drugs, investigators should have also identified his sources of drugs and his potential customers. But they haven't even searched Rashad's house. If he is really a drug dealer, he should have kept a large batch of drugs at home. It was all stitched with white threads," said the lawyer.
