SBU announces detention of 10 militaries who came from Rostov Region
As reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU), on August 24 they detained 10 Russian paratroopers, who got to Ukraine across the border with the Rostov Region. The paratroopers were surrounded up and captured.
The detainees are the contract servicemen from the 331st Parachute Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation deployed in the city of Kostroma, the SBU reports, adding that the detainees told at interrogation that they had arrived in a railway echelon from Kostroma to Rostov-on-Don, a week before in a group of 350-400 servicemen, also scouts and gunners among them.
Later, two battle landing vehicles (known as BMD) fell behind the groups; one of them was destroyed; the platoon commander Lieutenant Mikhail Milenko disappeared, leaving his subordinates, who were surrounded and forced to surrender without fighting, to antiterrorist operation (ATO) forces, the UNIAN News Agency reports referring to its source from the SBU.
In his turn, a source from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the above soldiers got to the territory of Ukraine by accident. "These soldiers were patrolling a section of the Russian-Ukrainian border, and crossed it, probably, by accident in some unequipped and unmarked stretch," said the source.
