Mother of Azerbaijani activist Abdullaev reports his placement into dungeon

In Azerbaijan, Elvin Abdullaev, a member of the Youth Committee of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has been placed into the dungeon of the SIZO (pre-trial prison), said his mother Zulfiya Abdullaeva.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Elvin Abdullaev was detained in Baku on January 8, 2015, on suspicion of drug dealing. On January 10, the court arrested him for 4 months.

Zulfiya Abdullaeva believes that her son was put into the dungeon for the protest he expressed on May 5 at the preparatory session at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes. "Elvin turned his back to the judges – this was his protest. The judges made him a warning, but he continued his protest. Then, we were taken out of the courtroom. His advocate said later that Elvin continued standing with his back to the judges. In the end, the session was adjourned till May 14," said Abdullaeva.
