Chechen pilgrim died during Hajj in Mecca
In Saudi Arabia, a 69-year-old resident of Chechnya died during the rite of pilgrimage. His death is not related to the events in the valley of Mina, where the mass stampede killed hundreds of pilgrims. This was reported by the spokesman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya.
"At night of Thursday (September 24), one of our pilgrims died while he was performing one of the rites of the Hajj. The name of the 69-year-old deceased man was Dunda Agaev. His death was supposedly caused by heart attack, and it was not connected with the deaths of the Muslims in the valley of Mina in the mass stampede," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Muftiyat of Chechnya.
Let us remind you that on September 24, the mass stampede occurred near Mecca at the passage from the tent city in the valley of Mina near a station of the monorail metro, which carried pilgrims to the holy places. The stampede killed 717 people and injured at least 863. According to Khalid Falih, Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia, the tragedy was caused by the pilgrims' failure to comply with the schedule of the religious ritual set by the organizers. According to the Muftiyat of Chechnya, no pilgrims from Chechnya or other Russia regions suffered in the incident.
The Chechen SAM has noted that the Chechen pilgrim, who has died during the Hajj, will be buried in a cemetery in the vicinity of Mecca.
Let us remind you that this year, more than 2600 Muslims from the Chechen Republic go on the Hajj to Mecca.
