Death toll of "Guneshli" platform fire victims rises to ten

On January 3, in the Caspian Sea, off the coast of Turkmenistan, bodies of two Azerbaijani oilers were found; they perished in the fire on the "Guneshli" oil platform. Today, they will be brought to Azerbaijan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that yesterday, on January 3, the ninth perished oiler was found in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

The fire on the "Guneshli" occurred on December 4, 2015. The data on the casualties differs: the Committee on Protection of Oil Workers' Rights reported about 32 casualties; however, according to official sources, by January 3, bodies of eight oilers were found; 22 more persons were reported missing.

According to latest data, yesterday, in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan, bodies of two more casualties of the fire on the "Guneshli" platform in Azerbaijan were found.

The bodies were found some 65-70 km off the shore; they were delivered to the Turkmen seaport of Kyainly. The clothes of one of them bore the inscription "Azneft", said the press service of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of Azerbaijan.

Thus, the number of fire casualties has reached ten, the "Interfax" reports.
