Azerbaijani residents pay tribute to victims of Khojaly tragedy
Azerbaijan holds the mourning events dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the massacre of civilians in the town of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh. Abroad, activists held memorial actions within the public campaign "Justice for Khojaly".
At night of February 26, 1992, in the course of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Armenian armed forces stormed the town of Khojaly. More than 600 civilians were killed.
Today, a mass rally will be held in Baku. People will come to the memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the massacre and lay flowers at the monument "Call of the Mother".
This year, the ceremony in memory of the victims will be attended by James Warlick, the American co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Mourning ceremonies will be held in mosques of Azerbaijan.
The Khojaly tragedy was marked by a number of activities held abroad by diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan and organizations of the Azerbaijani Diasporas.
So, on February 18, Stockholm hosted the presentation of the book "Khojaly Witness of a War Crime: Armenia in the Dock", published by Ian Peart, a member of the "Europe-Azerbaijan Society". Besides, people watched the documentary film "Endless Corridor" about the events in Khojaly shot by Lithuanian filmmakers.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a press officer of the Military Prosecutor's Office that the investigators revealed involvement of 39 people in the crimes committed in Khojaly. All of them are wanted on the charge of genocide.
