Prosecutor's Office requests to speed up investigation into kidnapping of Hussein Betelgeriev in Grozny

In Chechnya, the Prosecutor's Office has demanded from the law enforcement agencies to intensify the investigation into the report on the kidnapping of Hussein Betelgeriev in Grozny. According to residents of Chechnya, the songs created by Hussein Betelgeriev are very popular in the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that family members of Hussein Betelgeriev are unable to locate him since March 31. According to them, two unidentified persons took Hussein Betelgeriev away from home in the village of Kalinin. His wife Karima Betelgerieva reports that on April 2, she filed a complaint about the disappearance of her husband to the police. However, as of April 4, no investigative actions were carried out.

On April 4, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office reported that it requested the law enforcement and investigative authorities to speed up the measures to search for Hussein Betelgeriev, and the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) launched the check.

The disappearance of Hussein Betelgeriev has given a rise to great public interest, since he is one of creative intellectuals of Grozny.

Earlier, it has been reported that while creating his songs, Hussein Betelgeriev also used lyrics written by Zelimkhan Yandarbiev, the former president of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. This was reported by a Facebook user who left a comment under the post about the kidnapping of bard Hussein Betelgeriev on Facebook page of Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya, the project director for Northern Caucasus of the International Crisis Group (ICG).
