Organizer of farmers' rally states his detention in Kuban
Alexei Volchenko, the head of the initiative group of Kuban (Krasnodar Territory) farmers, is charged with disobeying the police. This was stated by the activist himself, who has linked his detention with the plans to hold a rally in the village of Kazanskaya, Kavkazian District, which the oppositional leader Alexei Navalny had planned to visit.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that about 100 farmers from nine districts of the Krasnodar Territory had declared their intention to hold a tractor voyage to Moscow to convey their appeal to President Vladimir Putin, and to draw attention to massive raider's seizures of land in the region.
Alexei Volchenko asserts that on May 16 his car was stopped by the employees of the road-and-post service (known as DPS) for an alleged traffic violation.
After that, he was taken to the interior division, where he was charged under the article of "disobedience to a lawful order of a policeman" of the Russian Administrative Code, which threats him with an administrative arrest for up to 15 days or a fine.
The activist believes that he was detained "because on May 19 Sochi opens the summit 'Russia-ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations)'."
Today, at the airport of the city of Anapa, Alexei Navalny, the head of the Fund to Fight Corruption (FFC), and his employees were attacked by a group of unidentified persons, Cossacks among them. One of the victims – Artyom Torchinskiy – was seriously injured.
