In Chechnya, Shatoi District launches construction of village for people affected by landslide

The new village of 30 houses is being constructed in the mountainous Shatoi District of Chechnya, where on June 12, a landslide destroyed and damaged dozens of houses. According to the Shatoi District administration, the construction works are to be completed by July 6.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, in the village of Gush-Kort, a landslide destroyed 10 houses where 52 people lived. The villages deprived of their houses as a result of the landslide were temporarily accommodated by their friends and relatives in their village and the neighbouring village of Vyardy.

According to experts, the landslide processes in the village of Gush-Kort still continue.

Local residents confirm the start of the construction. They note that the landslide caused break of electricity, gas, and water supply.

According to Vakhid, a resident of the Shatoi District, the landslide did not only destroy houses, but it also damaged the gas and water pipes, power lines, and roads.
