Zhirair Sefilyan arrested for two months

In Yerevan, the court has granted the investigators' motion on the arrest of Zhirair Sefilyan, the leader of the movement "100 years without regime", who is accused of illegal possession and transportation of weapons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, it became known that Zhirair Sefilyan was arrested on suspicion of organization of illegal transportation and possession of weapons. In the evening, the investigators conducted searches at his house and office. Zhirair Sefilyan has refused to testify, and he associates his detention with his opposition activities, reports an advocate of the activist.

The court has granted the investigators' motion and arrested Zhirair Sefilyan for two months. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ara Zakaryan, one of the advocates of the oppositionist.

He has noted that during the court hearings, Zhirair Sefilyan did not admit the charge filed against him. "My client told the court that the criminal case was fabricated on the basis of absurd evidence," said the advocate. He has also added that the defence will appeal against the decision on the activist's arrest.
