Yerevan police boss dismissed

Ashot Karapetyan has been dismissed from the post of the head of the Yerevan police after a service investigation in connection with dispersal of protests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the capture on July 17 by supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" of the building of police regiment in Yerevan, actions were held in support of the rebels. At night on July 30, policemen dispersed an oppositional march, injuring 55 demonstrators and four policemen. After the inquiry into the actions of law enforcers, the boss of Yerevan police was reprimanded.

Today, the press service of the Armenian Police has announced that its head Vladimir Gasparyan ordered to dismiss Ashot Karapetyan from his post; also, a number of policemen were fined.

Let us remind you that rebels kept the above captured building for two weeks and surrendered on July 31.
