Yelena Isinbayeva intends to become ARAF President

Yelena Isinbayeva, a two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting, who was not allowed to competitions of the 2016 Olympic Games, intends to go to Rio de Janeiro to take part in the elections to the IOC Athletes' Commission. Besides, she has announced her desire to become the President of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 8, the Swiss Federal Court rejected the appeal filed by Yelena Isinbayeva against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which confirmed the ban on the athlete to participate in the Olympic Games in Brazil, pronounced by the International Association of Athletics Federations. The athlete argues that the ban is imposed on political grounds and she is not involved in a doping scandal.

The 31st Summer Olympic Games takes place on August 5-21, 2016. Yelena Isinbayeva represents the Volgograd Region and Dagestan.

According to Yelena Isinbayeva, she dreamed to take part in the elections to the IOC Athletes' Commission since she had learned of its existence.

"Earlier, our country has been represented at the IOC Athletes' Commission by Alexander Popov, a great swimmer," Yelena Isinbayeva noted.

The athlete has emphasized that all the troubles of the year will help her in her effort to return the ARAF to the International Association of Athletics Federations.
