Moscow honours Olympic champion Khasan Khalmurzaev

At the "Sheremetyevo" Airport, the Olympic champion was met not only by representatives of the Ingush Diaspora, but also by numerous fans of judo, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"People of different nationalities, admirers of the Khasan sports talent came to the 'Sheremetyevo' Airport. It was a holiday. For me, it was a double holiday: the Khasan's return from Brazil and the Builder Day, my professional holiday," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Magomed Eliev, the president of the Ingush Judo Federation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that judoka Khasan Khalmurzaev, a native of Ingushetia, won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in the weight category of up to 81 kg. Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov has announced construction of a judo hall in honour of the Khasan Khalmurzaev's victory.

In Moscow, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Ingushetia organized a meeting of Khasan Khalmurzaev, champion in judo of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, who returned from Brazil, with staff members of the Ingush Permanent Mission and members of the Ingush Diaspora. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Elena Tolsteneva, the press secretary of the Ingush leader.

The Khalmurzaev brothers, Khasan and Khusen (the latter took part in the Olympic Games as a sparring partner), who felt tired after a long flight, and their coach Yunus Ozdoev were met at the Ingush Permanent Mission in Moscow as real winners.

"This is the second Olympic medal for us, the Ingush athletes. The first Olympic medal was won in the Soviet era by Israpil Arsamakov in the heavy weight category. And now, the second Olympic medal is won for our Khasan," says Yunus Ozdoev.

Let us remind you that judo is the most popular sport in Ingushetia. Meanwhile, coaches believe that the Khasan Khalmurzaev's victory will bring even more people to the sport. However, Ingushetia still faces lack of sports facilities for training.
