Prosecutor's Office claims inconsistency of Khadija Ismayilova's claim

According to an official of the Prosecutor's Office, investigators were acting under the law, and thus the claim filed by journalist Khadija Ismayilova, who demanded to pay compensation for three months wrongly spent by her in prison, is not to be granted. An advocate of Khadija Ismayilova has submitted documents to substantiate the claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August, Khadija Ismayilova filed a lawsuit against the Baku City Prosecutor's Office with the demand to pay compensation for her unjustified detention in custody for three months on the charge of inciting to suicide.

According to advocate Yalchin Imanov, during her arrest, Khadija Ismayilova suffered material losses, did not receive salary, spent money for legal aid and for provision of food for her at the SIZO (pre-trial prison). Khadija Ismayilova demanded compensation for material expenses in the amount of 9030 manats (5600 US dollars).

Khadija Ismayilova has claimed that she was not able to work because of her unjustified detention.

The journalist cannot continue to work for the "Radio Liberty", since its Baku Office has suspended its activities.

Let us remind you that in January, it became known that the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) had started communication with the Azerbaijani government concerning the complaints about the interference in the journalist Khadija Ismayilova's private life and her discredit in the local media.
