Witness for prosecution in Adnan Khuade's case gives contradictory testimony

The court has started the consideration on the merits in the case against Adygea activist Adnan Khuade, accused of attempting to bribe a police officer for a traffic violation. Witness for the prosecution has initially stated that she was asked to become a witness at the place where Adnan Khuade had been detained. However, she then said that two hours before her participation in the investigative actions, her acquaintance from the law enforcement bodies called her by phone and asked her to become a witness.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 11, Adnan Khuade, a repatriate from Turkey, was arrested for 15 days for driving a car without a driver's licence.

On September 6, the Maikop City Court of Adygea held its first hearing in the case against Adnan Khuade.

The defence of Adnan Khuade has filed a motion to change the pre-trial restriction measure for the detention and replace his detention in custody with house arrest or recognizance not to leave. However, the Court has dismissed the defence's motion.

Advocate Iland Abregov believes that the case against Adnan Khuade is of political nature. He believes that prior to the pronouncement of the verdict, the Court will unlikely mitigate the pre-trial restriction measure to the defendant.

According to Iland Abregov, the state of health of his client has deteriorated during his detention in custody. However, at the preliminary hearing held on August 24, the Court refused to attach the appropriate medical reports to the case materials.
