In Quarter 2 of 2016, 87 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 87 people suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in Quarter 2 of 2016; of them, 51 persons were killed and at least 36 – wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

The death toll of 51 includes 39 persons involved, according to law enforcers, in illegal armed formations (IAFs), 10 law enforcers and two civilians.

Out of the 36 wounded persons, 30 are law enforcers, three – suspected IAF members and three civilians.

The Republic of Dagestan remains the "hottest spot" of Northern Caucasus – during the period from April 1 to June 30, at least 62 people suffered there in armed clashes; of them, 37 people were killed and 25 wounded. The casualties included two civilians, nine power agents and 26 persons, involved, according to law enforcers, in IAFs. Among the wounded ones, there are a civilian, 23 law enforcers and one alleged IAF member.

In Quarter 2 of 2016, in the Chechen Republic, at least 14 people suffered: three were killed and 11 others – wounded. The death toll includes a law enforcer and two alleged IAF members. Two civilians, seven law enforcers and two alleged IAF members were wounded.

In Ingushetia, the armed conflict claimed five human lives; all were involved, according to law enforcers, in IAFs.

In the Stavropol Territory, in Quarter 2 of 2016, five alleged members of the armed underground were killed.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, in the period from April 1 to June 30, 2016, one alleged IAF member was killed.

Karachay-Cherkessia and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania saw no victims to the armed conflict in Quarter 2 of 2016.
