Grand Prix of "Kunaki" festival goes to "Country of Udekhe"
In Sukhumi, the 10th North-Caucasian Open Film and TV Festival "Kunaki" has been closed. The main prize of the festival went to Ivan Golovnyov, the director of the 26-minute film "Country of Udekhe", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, the festival "Kunaki" opened in Sukhumi with special presentation of the films created by Abkhaz film makers. 267 works were submitted to the festival. Of them, 57 were included in the film forum programme, and 11 of them were dedicated to the Caucasus in any way.
The film, which won the main prize of the festival, told the audience about Udekhe people (Udeges, Udeghes). Udekhes are one of the small indigenous nations of the Far East.
"The film 'Country of Udekhe' immerses the audience in the life of a small indigenous nation, and it appears that people of Udekhes see life in everything and they have no such notion as death," says the annotation to the film.
Ivan Golovnyov is a film maker, the director of the festival "EtnoKino". He took part in and became laureate of Russian and international film festivals, including "Berlinale", "Oberhausen", Moscow International Film Festival, International Film Festival (IFF) "JIHLAVA" (Czech Republic), IFF "FESTROIA" (Portugal), IFF "VISION DU REEL" (Switzerland), International Film Festival in Trento (Italy), IFF "Festival de Cine Social" (Chile), "Message to Man", "Kinotavr", "Film Shock", "Golden Knight", etc.
