Policemen release Denisenko after document check

The lawyer Elena Denisenko, detained at the Gerzel checkpoint in Dagestan, could continue her trip to Krasnodar after power agents returned her passport and ID certificate. The passengers of the bus, by which Ms Denisenko was travelling, had to wait until the check was over.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today Elena Denisenko, a member of the Bar of the Krasnodar Territory, was taken off the Makhachkala-Krasnodar bus. According to her story, she was detained because of her presence on the list of the so-called "prophylactic registration". On October 6, Elena Denisenko was already detained at the same checkpoint.

Elena Denisenko is known, among other things, for her work in defence of prisoners' rights, for which she was exposed to pressure from power agents.

According to the lawyer, she will appeal against the today's policemen's actions; in particular, she will again lodge a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.
