Former skinhead convicted in Chechnya for recruitment to IS

Kirill Prisyazhnyuk, a former member of the neo-Nazi grouping "Nevograd", has been found guilty of recruiting people into the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, and sentenced to four years in prison in Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office sent to the court the case of Kirill Prisyazhnyuk, who was accused of helping a local woman to go abroad and join Syrian militants. According to investigators, Prisyazhnyuk helped Larissa Abubakarova to depart to the territory of Syria "to take part in an armed formation, not envisaged by the legislation of that state, with the aim contrary to the interests of Russia."

According to the "Sova" Information-Analytical Centre, Kirill Prisyazhnyuk, a former member of the neo-Nazi grouping "Nevograd", by the decision of the Chechen Supreme Court, "was sentenced to four years in prison for recruiting people to the ISIL ("Islamic State (IS, earlier ISIL) a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")."

Prisyazhnyuk was recruited into the IS, banned in Russia, in 2014, when he was in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Kresty" (Crosses) in Saint Petersburg, the "Sova" Centre reports.
