Men from family of killed militant leave Grozny

Most of the detained relatives of the alleged militants, killed during the counterterrorist operation (CTO), conducted on December 17-18, after the attack on policemen in Grozny, returned home, local residents have confirmed. According to a woman-relative, the men from her family have left Grozny for remote villages, because of the blood feud declared to them.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 17 Grozny saw several attacks on policemen. In the course of the CTO, seven suspected militants were killed, and four others were detained. Power agents also began detaining relatives and friends of those killed. According to Akhmed Gisaev, the head of the Human Rights Analysis Centre, the total number of detainees exceeded 100 persons; they were released at night on December 25.

Let us remind you that all the males from the family of Zelimkhan Bakharchiev, a suspected organizer of attacks on Grozny on December 17 and 18, have left their homes in the Chechen village of Prigorodnoe. This happened after the rally held on December 21, where local residents demanded the eviction of the Bakharchievs from Chechnya.

As a result of attacks on policemen committed on December 17, three persons perished, one was wounded, and one law enforcer died of wounds during the CTO.
