Moscow court arrests Dagestani suspected of shooting

The Tver District Court of Moscow has granted the investigator's petition to arrest Omar Omarov, a native of Makhachkala, suspected of opening automatic fire in Russian capital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the residents of Makhachkala Omar Omarov and Islam Murtazaliev were detained after a video was posted on the YouTube on January 5 entitled "Shooting from a submachine gun in central Moscow 2017". On January 8, the RAPSI (Russian Legal Information Agency) reported that Omarov and Murtazaliev were suspected of hooliganism.

The criminal legislation assumes no responsibility for the use of ammunition, which has no striking effect, but the shooter may be accused of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons, said Igor Trunov, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Bar Association "Trunov, Aivar and Partners" in Moscow and the president of the Union of Russian Lawyer.

He is surprised that the participants of the incident are accused only of "hooliganism with the use of a weapon", while ignoring the "illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation and carrying of weapons and components thereof."
