Armenia gives out Chingiz Gurbanov's body to Azerbaijan

The body of soldier Chingiz Gurbanov, killed on December 29, 2016, near the Armenian village of Chinari, has been given out to the Azerbaijani side with the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Red Cross has provided assistance to Azerbaijan to ensure the transfer of the Chingiz Gurbanov's body from Armenia. Azerbaijan has noted that Armenia is delaying the procedure of return of the soldier's body. On January 9, members of the OSCE Minsk Group called on Armenia to immediately transfer the body of the killed soldier to Azerbaijan.

"There was no longer need to keep the body because of the completion of the forensic examination appointed in a criminal case opened on grounds of aggressive war and murder on national soil," reported the press secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The soldier's body, accompanied by guard of honour, was sent to Baku with military honours, reported the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence.
